Programs and Activities
- Identification and dissemination of relevant information within and outside the University of Arizona campus.
- Matchmaking needs and opportunities in the region.
- Offering and managing of small grants.
- Organization of relevant events.
- Seminars to create awareness and share expertise.
- Organization of missions and visits to/from the University.
- Advisement in the preparation of successful grant proposals.
Some unique characteristics of the Office of Western Hemispheric Programs include:
- Working based on the successful experience gained at the University by hosting the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC)
- Serving as a central support unit with an institution-wide scope, although working closely with colleges and departments as well as with other support units.
- Operating under the scope of the area of External Relations, and also closely connected with the office of the President of the University as a way to demonstrate the strategic importance of its work to both internal and external communities.
- Counting with the advice and recommendations from key faculty members and maintaining their involvement as a way to legitimize its work and benefit from institutional expertise.
- Aggressively communicating the key highlights and importance of the University among higher education institutions, agencies and foundations in Mexico, Canada and Latin America.
