Some unique characteristics of the Office of Western Hemispheric Programs include: Working based on the successful experience gained at the University by hosting the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC) Serving as a central support unit with an institution-wide scope, although working closely with colleges and departments as well as with other support units. Operating under the scope of the area of External Relations, and also closely connected with the office of the President of the University as a way to demonstrate the strategic importance of its work to both internal and external communities. Counting with the advice and recommendations from key faculty members and maintaining their involvement as a way to legitimize its work and benefit from institutional expertise. Aggressively communicating the key highlights and importance of the University among higher education institutions, agencies and foundations in Mexico, Canada and Latin America.
